The Plague!
Oh my what a week it has been!
Kendri has been super sick! It all started on last Friday when she started coughing. It didn't seem to be too bad but was pretty annoying for her and she was having a hard time sleeping. Saturday she woke up with a temp of 103 . . sooo off to the Dr we went. Luckily the Dr is open on Saturdays for walk-in treatment but there are no appointments and you never know who you will see. We ended up with a very nice nurse practitioner (although Kendri's regular Dr was there . .although I didn't find that out until later) and after a array of terrible test that all came back negative (strep, flu and RSV) she decided that Kendri had bronchitis. She gave her a breathing treatment in the office and some antibiotics and said that if the fever was still bad to come back in.
First of all the antibiotics NEVER stayed in Kendri for more then 5 min since she would proceed to puke it directly back up and when we woke up Monday she still had a terrible fever. So back to the Dr we went. This time we went to the office that our regular Dr was at. John met us there which helped the situation some since the minute we walked in Kendri knew where she was and started screaming like someone was killing her. The Dr. ran some blood tests and found that it was all viral. Our big concern was that the fever was not going away and she had not eaten since Friday night ( and I mean NOTHING). She assured us that it would be gone in a few days and to hang in there.
Tuesday Kendri was terribly lethargic and slept for about 4 hours in the morning and then went back down for a nap in the afternoon. She still was eating nothing and when I woke her up after her nap she was not breathing well (quick wheezing breaths) and the temp was up to 105!! I immediately called the Dr who referred us to an emergent care center for chest x-rays!! Kendri did very well (it was super helpful that Daddy was there to sing to her) and she was diagnosed with the beginnings of pneumonia. So we got another antibiotic (which was much better on her GI tract) and more breathing treatments. By Thursday the fever broke but her cough was still terrible and by Friday she started eating something.
So needless to say it was a stressful week! She is much better now and I only got minor symptoms of the congestion. I am so thankful that John is such a fantastic Daddy and did everything he could to support both Kendri and me! YAY super Daddy!
We did take one pic of Kendri getting her breathing treatments. . she was so pitiful .. we knew when she was feeling better when she started fighting them =) So I will include the pic!
We are looking forward to celebrating Kendri's birthday next week! I can't believe my baby is going to be 2!!! Hope that you all are healthy and that spring will visit us soon!
