Trick or treating with Playgroup friends

Happy Halloween!

We had a great Halloween weekend. We went to several Halloween festivities during the weekend. We started out the weekend by carving pumpkins. Kendri was tentative about helping daddy scoop out the guts but eventually got the hang of it. She was very adamant about how she wanted her jack-o-lantern to look and asked for it to have stars for eyes and a moon for a nose. Mommy did her best :) On Friday night we went to local school to go trick or treating from classroom to classroom. Kendri enjoyed getting the candy but we found that it was pretty busy and fairly expensive so it was fairly short lived.

On Saturday night we went to trunk or treat at our church. Congregation members decorated the trunks of their cars and we went trick or treating from car to car in the parking lot. Some people really went all out and we enjoyed seeing all the different costumes. Some cars had games as well. They also had a hay ride and pumpkin painting but we missed both of those as we went a little later and it got chilly quickly so we headed out. Kendri did get to enjoy the bounce house with her friend Zoe. We really had a good time. After each night Kendri went home and surveyed her loot. Interestingly enough she just wanted to sort the candy over and over and never asked to eat any of it....very cute!

On Halloween night we headed over to the Ellington's house for a Halloween party with our playgroup friends. We had a cookout and played a few games including eating a "ghost" doughnut off a string without using her hands. She thought it was hilarious and ended us with more of it on her face then in her mouth. We then headed out trick or treating. Our little elephant really had the hang of it this year and was certainly not shy about knocking on doors and yelling "trick or treat". Unfortunately she was not feeling well and she didn't make it too far before she was over it. We went back to roast some marshmallows and make s'mores but by that time Kendri was really miserable so we headed home.

By the time we got home Kendri had a temp of 103.8. In the past she has been known to spike a fever so we gave her a fever reducer and headed to the Dr in the morning. On Monday morning she was diagnosed with strep throat. The week was downhill from there. Monday night Kendri woke up vomiting as a side effect of the strep. By Wednesday Rylin started feeling yucky and that night I ended up taking her to the Dr where she was diagnosed with an ear infection. Thursday Kendri broke out in a rash that covered her entire body. So again on Friday we went back to the Dr who changed both of the girls meds. As of today both are feeling much better. Unfortunately now John has it... and I am not sure what is worse... he is the most pathetic sick boy you have ever seen..although I hear that that is typical of most men ;)
