Hey all,
We have been having a fabulous fall! The weather has been great so we have been taking advantage of it and been outside enjoying the changing of the seasons.
Two weekends ago we went to the pumpkin patch! The weather was warm (almost hot) and we had a great time. Grandma and Grandpa were in town and the Ellingtons joined us again this year. We went on a hayride to get to the patch to find the perfect pumpkins. Kendri loved playing in the hay and was covered by the end of the ride (so were all of those sitting around her). After finding a "mommy" and "Daddy" a "Kendri" and a "little baby" pumpkin we headed back for the hay maze and a picnic lunch. Kendri loved the zip line and bouncy house...and we all enjoyed the doughnuts! MMMM! Rylin slept through the whole thing. She did wake up to eat (right when Mommy wanted to eat) but apparently was unimpressed and went right back to sleep.
Last weekend we headed to Smith Mountain Lake for a family wedding. John's cousin was getting married and they had asked John to sing and Kendri to be the flower girl. We were unsure of how Kendri would do but she took her job very seriously and did great. The rehearsal was at 2 on Saturday and then we went straight to the spa to get her hair done. The bride had made a headpiece that Kendri referred to as her "princess crown" and I downloaded Dora onto my i-pad (which saved the day). The wedding started at 4 and unfortunately due to all the wind the ceremony had to be moved inside. It turned out beautifully and as Kendri walked down the aisle she was very proud of herself. This was evident due to her yelling as she went down the aisle "look at me!! I am doing it!!" and then "Hi Daddy! I am a flower girl" when she saw daddy! It was VERY Cute!! I personally think she stole the show :)
This weekend we went to Carter Mountain Apple Orchard to pick apples! The weather was fantastic and Kendri LOVED the apples. It was VERY busy but we found that when we headed to the orchard it was like we were all alone. We went on a scenic hayride and then headed out to the orchard. It was the first day of "Pink Lady" apples and we discovered that we LOVED them. Kendri couldn't get enough! We tried to keep and "eating" apple in her hand at all times but ended up with lots of apples in the bag with one or two bites out of them. John and I ate our share as well! Kendri learned that she had to twist the apples off the branches instead of pulling and loved it when Daddy lifted her up so that she could "climb climb climb" to the top of the trees to get the good ones! Rylin loved her ride in the Bjorn and got to eat her lunch in the middle of the apple orchard. I have gotten very comfortable with feeding her in public and didn't even have a cover. The looks I was getting made me laugh! They also sold apple cider slushies, apple cider doughnuts, and apple caramel cookies which were all to die for! We had a great time and hope to make this a new fall tradition!
Here are some pics from this month. I was going to download a video of our little flower girl but with our internet it would take all weekend!! Sorry mom!! ;)
Hope you all have a super spooky Halloween!
