We had a fantastic 4th of July this year! Because the 4th fell on a Sunday this year, most of the activities for kids were happening during nap time so we were very limited as to what we could do. We decided to go to the little Ashland parade to get into the festive spirit. We packed a lunch and had a picnic while waiting for the parade to begin. Kendri got her first snow cone but quickly decided that it was not for her .. so Mommy and Daddy enjoyed it. The parade was cute and Kendri really enjoyed the dogs that were all decorated in red, white, and blue. The best part of the day was that the train came through town twice. As Kendri and John waved at the people on the train, the conductor stuck his hand out of the engine and waved back at them . . Kendri was THRILLED and has been talking about it since!
After a great nap we went to John's parents house for a cook out. Some of John's family was in from North Carolina so it was good to spend some time with them. Papaw bought a new swing which was a big hit and Kendri also really enjoyed the sparklers . . . although they made me REALLY nervous!
Hope that you all had a fabulous Fourth of July!!
