Hey all! I hope that you all are ready for the Holiday season . .it is right around the corner.
We have been super busy these past few weeks. We have successfully packed, moved, and closed on our house and are now in a apartment temporarily. The move went as well as could be expected. I found it very challenging to be able to get packed with Kendri doing so much "helping" so it was very nice to have John's mom come and take care of her two weekends in a row so that we could get the big stuff done.
My dad came on Friday with the intention to stay as long as he was needed. On Saturday he and Daddy Ayers packed the pod to the BRIM. Daddy Ayers was determined to get the entire thing done and ended up spending ALL day working on it. Most of the things that ended up in the pod were things from the attic and he and my dad did a LOT of work getting it all down and outside. Luckily it was a beautiful day. We all spent Sunday doing more work and John talked me into taking Kendri to the sitter on that Monday so that we could finish for the move on Tuesday. It was a good thing we did . . OK John you were right =)
The move started on Tuesday morning at 8. Kendri went to the sitter, I went to the apartment to clean, and John held down the fort at the house. All went smoothly and the movers left at about 2 that day. We still had a lot of unpacking to do and the hardest thing was finding "homes" for everything. My dad left on that Thursday and I finished the last of the boxes while Kendri was at the sitter that day. We would have never been ready without his help! Thanks Daddy!!
Of all of us Keely has been the one that has had the hardest time adjusting. John let her sleep with us the first few nights and she was following us everywhere thinking that we were leaving her somewhere strange. She has since gotten over it and has gotten back to normal. Kendri has done extraordinarily well! She has gotten her naps in each afternoon (even the day of the move) although they are about an hour shorter then they were at the house. I am praying that she will go back to 3 hour naps instead of 2 . . we'll see. She is currently teething (she is getting her two top incisors) and has had the normal runny nose and whinyness to go with it. But she is no worse for the wear.
While dad was here he got some good time with Kendri. Ever since we went to Roanoke to see him when he got back from Michigan all Kendri can talk about is Grandpa's apples. So dad made some in Roanoke before he left and brought them with him. Kendri was delighted. Interestingly enough for a while Kendri thought that our apartment was Grandpa's house. Everytime we would drive up she would clap and yell for Grandpa. I think because he was with us for the move, and he was at the apartment when she went to the sitters the day he left, she didn't understand that he went home. When asked now where Grandpa is she replies with "work". Too funny! We also got to take Dad to see the lot of land where our house is going to be built. We asked him to walk the property and mark which trees he thought should be cut and which should be kept. I am not sure how much say we have in the whole thing, but it was nice to have his opinion.
We are looking forward to Thanksgiving at John's Grandpa's house in Cumberland next week! Hope that you get lots of turkey! Gobble Gobble!
