Happy Halloween!

We had a fantastic Halloween this year! Although Rylin really had no idea what was going on, Kendri was REALLY excited and into it this year! We started the festivities on Friday night with our pumpkin carving. Rylin was not at all excited and rather horrified by the pumpkin guts but Kendri dug right in. I think that she had a little bit of a memory of last year so she knew some of what to expect. I carved the first one under her direction and close eye and then let her draw the face that she wanted for hers. It really was quite difficult to cut out the drawing of a three year old, but we made it work and she was thrilled by the results!

On Saturday we went to Kendri's school to go to their "Trunk or Treat" festival. They had several cars lined up in a semicircle for trick or treating out of their trunks. We saw several familiar faces including both of Kendri's teachers so she was super excited. Rylin started to get the hang of things and loved grabbing the candy out of the bowl and putting it into her bag. She kept yelling "Mama Mama" in her excitement and then would murmur "thank you" in language that only mommy and daddy can understand! They served a hot dog dinner and we went on hayrides all for free! Super Fun!

On Halloween we went to the Ellington's for a Halloween party. The kids played a few games, ate dinner, and then we all headed out for Trick or Treating. Kendri was all about it this year and we had a hard time keeping up.. she RAN from house to house yelling "come on Daddy!!" Rylin was also having the time of her life and "talking" up a storm" She continued to smile enthusiastically and point at her candy and babble! John and I really got a kick out of it! Unfortunately we were cut short by rain!!! It sure didn't bother Kendri but it was very cold and wet so we finally convinced the kids to go into the house to help hand out candy to the other kids that were trick or treating! They had just as much fun handing out the candy as they did actually trick or treating themselves! We ended up having a long night with girls that were over stimulated and hopped up on sugar but it was totally worth it!
